“Poetry can be a home for your thoughts and feelings, and a place you can invite guests into.”
– J M Whyne, Sept. 2024 –
I am a poet with roots in London, Jamaica, and Indonesia. My poetry explores identity, social justice, and human experience. My practice includes page and spoken word poetry. I have two poetry collections: In Conversation (2022) and Say It with a Haiku (2024).

‘Known By Our Acts’
Here’s an example of my page poetry. This was my first attempt at a Sestina and the first time I shared it with an audience–fitting to have done so at a Scratch Night, organised by London-based poet and all-round Creative, The Metaphorest
Haiku
From today’s ashes: thankfulness. A daily act of resistance.
Daily Haiku No. 68, 23 November, J M Whyne
As part of my creative practice and for fun, I like to explore different poetic forms. I previously committed to a daily act of creativity in the form of a daily haiku. You can find out more about it and see some of my Haiku here.
