This is a #ThursdayThought revisited

While trying to clear my phone memory in the late hours, I came across this Thursday Thought from 27 February 2020.

Buzzing off a conversation I had this afternoon, here are some #thursdaymusings on not being afraid to dream big. I’m both a realist and an optimist, so hopefully anyone who is similar/within that spectrum  can find something in this that will resonate.

It was prompted by an unplanned conversation with Kenny (Van Kenny Tamara) at Guten Morgen Coffee Lab, Jakarta. Kenny and his wife, Christyna Theosa are co-owners of Guten Morgen Coffee Lab, as well as the visionaries behind various other social enterprises and businesses.

Guten Morgen Coffee lab is itself a social enterprise, providing training and employment opportunities for ex-offenders. It was one of my favourite local coffee spots when I lived in Jakarta. Many mocha moments and creative conversations were held there.

Message to Self

It can be weird watching back your own stuff it can also sometimes make you think, ‘watch mi nah!’

Re-visiting this Thursday Thought felt like a timely #messagetoself, as I was trying to push past some doubts and limiting beliefs about a poetry submission I was completing.

It can be difficult to continue submitting to poet/writers’ programs and ‘putting yourself out there‘,  when you so often don’t make the cut. Particularly (due to the volume of submissions received) when for the majority of call outs/competitions etc., there isn’t any feedback provided. Leaving you unsure of whether you were just piped at the post, or your work just wasn’t good enough.

In addition, I’m in what seems like a neverending season of life and work uncertainties and transitions.

This Thursday Thought revisited challenged me to:

  • Dream the dream
  • Write it down
  • Start the process

So I thought I’d re-share it, in case it might resonate with someone other than me. Who knows, it may even be timely for some as we head into a new week and a new month.
