Today marks two weeks since I started a new job as the Training Coordinator for Luminary Bakery’s Employability & Training Program

It was totally unexpected, yet feels like it was meant to be. I went from seeing the post, to application deadline, to my flat white and a delicious cinnamon bun on my 1st day of induction, in less than 4 weeks.

Luminary Bakery is an award winning social enterprise empowering London’s most disadvantaged women to thrive. Using baking as a tool, paired with therapeutic support, mentoring, skills training and so much more. All designed to holistically support women as they work toward independence and brighter futures. New Beginnings & Other Late Night Musings

I shared a thought last week in which I said,

New beginnings can come at any time in the year.

This new role is a new beginning or more apt, a new chapter for me. Having previously been working in Southeast Asia for 10+ years (returning in 2022), I had—to say the least—doubts about how I’d compete in the U.K. work market.

▪️Doubts, which had I let them, could have stopped be from going for the post.
▪️Doubts that have niggled at me during the last two weeks.
▪️Doubts that would have me say nothing publicly about my new job till I’d passed my probation period.

But as a quote in my Rama Llama Ding Dong (a happy little) journal suggests, I‘ve been telling the negative committee in my head to “shut up”.

What About You?

▪️Are there new beginnings or chapters on your horizon?
▪️If so, will you embrace them, feel the fear and do it anyway, or let the negative committee (internal or external) stop you?

Camden Cafe

If you’re ever in Camden or Stoke Newington, pop into one of our cafes and try the cinnamon bun (or one of the many other delights) for yourself.

Added Bonus

A glimpse of my commute to work.

All but the Camden cafe photo (source: Luminary Bakery’s social media) have been taken by me.
