If you’re wondering what ‘it’ is, last night (Fri. 14 March) The 10k-ers, aka Morlene Fisher , Sam Mc and myself set off on our 10k night walk to raise money for Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT). This was part of The London Walk 2025, organised by London Homeless Collective.

SCT supports and journeys with people experiencing homelessness and recovery from addiction. My connection to SCT came via the opportunity to facilitate some poetry workshops for their service users.

One Foot in Front of the Other

We completed the 10k in just over 2hrs and are rightly proud of ourselves. Big shout out to Liz Marshall (dir. of fundraising and marketing) & Louisa Snow (interim chief exec.) who we bumped into along the way. They and six other SCT Strutters were doing the marathon distance!

Along the way, we had some good chats and laughs, and encouraged one another to keep going. We also got to chat to and laugh with other walkers and find out why they had signed up for the London Walk. A total of 25 organisations are a part of the London Homeless Collective and there were people representing a number, if not all, of them.

We also got to see some iconic London sights and hidden away streets ; Floral Street (nr. Covent Garden) was a new one for all of us.

Couldn’t have done it without you

We are also proud of and grateful for how so many of you have shown up for us, and more importantly, those who will benefit from the ongoing work of SCT. Your donations, words of encouragement, flapjacks & brownies (shout out to the Baking Teachers at Luminary Bakery) has been amazing!

If anyone else would also like to give, our 10k-ers just giving page is still open. It would be fantastic if we can make it to 1k.

Please also check out the work of Spitalfields Crypt Trust and follow them on their socials and LinkedIn. This year marks 60 years of them “Transforming Lives in East London”.

Thank You
