Peace means societal friendship and harmony in the absence of hostility and violence. In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of conflict (such as war) and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or groups.

I feel there are some things which have the ability to provide an abiding/constant state or sense of peace. Faith or some form of spirituality can often do this for some. Being the anchor point or essential ingredient for their peace.
I also feel that it can take a combination of things to create, sustain and protect your peace.

Recipe for Peace
In the same way that most cakes (unless it’s a vegan cake) require the same staple ingredients: flour, eggs, fat (butter), sugar; our sense of peace will also require some essential ingredients. —With the option of added ingredients.
My current recipe (in no particular order)
- Moments in the sun
- Pausing to appreciate creation/nature
- Faith
- Deep breaths
- Morning devotions (I use the Abide App, (optional extra: ‘Why Meditate?’)
- A day in the week when I have no commitments (mine’s Fridays)
- Time alone
- Long walks
- Artist’s dates, as recommended by Julia Cameron (Mine are monthly or every couple of months, as opposed to the recommended weekly)
- Being creative

This list isn’t an exhaustive lead; it’s just a sampling of what my essential ingredients are. Funnily enough, listing them has underscored my need to get back to doing them. As currently I don’t have the rhythm I’d like to. None of them are consistently a part of my lifestyle/healthy habits. This is needs to change soon.
