Rain, rain, go away, come again another day, or maybe, please don’t…

I know rain has a purpose, I know rain is needed,
I have a friend who longs for it, In contrast I kinda dread it,

Rain, Rain, go away, come again another day, or maybe, please don’t…

I have a leaky house,
I have previously had a rain filled house,

When the rain pours, position the basin and bucket,
Positioned to catch, drops from the ceiling,
Drops that could pour and cover the floor,
It’s happened before, I pray it doesn’t happen again.

Rain, Rain, go away, come again another day, or maybe, please don’t…

Check every corner,
Check every wall
Check the weather report to see how much will fall,

Will it go on through the night?
Or be over before I know it?

Rain, Rain, go away, come again another day, or maybe, please don’t…

The thunder rolls on, but the rain drops subside,
I can turn down the volume on my laptop now,
The laptop that was hidden when the drops began to fall,

Check every corner,
Check every wall,
Check the crack in the porch roof, “Phew, no worse than before,”

No point moving the basin and bucket,
Nor the cloths that have become, part of the decor,

For the rain, rain though it go away, will come again another day,
Even if I say, “Or maybe, please don’t.”
