Thought I’d respond to this wordpress prompt (it will be short and hopefully sweet):

Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.

I accepted an opportunity to live and work in Southeast Asia over 14 years ago. It was a bit of a ‘feel the fear and do it anyway ‘ + go with the flow moment = my life in Asia.

Me at Yogyakarta Train station in 2008.

Amidst lots of unknowns I had a peace this was the right move. Something that was important during some of the challenging times and the ‘what am I doing here!?‘ times.

I wrapped up my Asia life at the end of 2022—although I’m still navigating the transition.

I returned with:

  • another language
  • another homeland
  • adopted sisters, extended family
  • lasting friendships, global connections
  • a bit more wisdom (yet still so much to learn)
  • more than one suitcase (when I left my ‘life’ had to fit in 32 kg)
  • Sea stories
  • my poetic voice
  • Thursday Thoughts
  • and many more threads in my tapestry.
