So, putting yourself out there can be a key step in moving toward or forward with your goals.
My most recent ‘putting myself out there’ was entering a poem into The Poetry Archive Now! Worldview 2021. Even if it doesn’t make it into the final 20, these words will now make it even further than my living room, or the ears it has already been heard in.
To my Poet friends, the submission window is open till August 31st 2021. Poetry Archive will upload your poem to their YouTube platform, and possibly other channels. You don’t really have anything to lose by submitting a piece. – Needs to have been written in 2021.
Is there something you can be ‘putting yourself out there‘ for?
Why not go for it? Doing this sometimes only requires taking a small first step. Sharing your idea/goal with one other person; uploading that post to your socials; making or answering that call; attending that workshop; updating that CV; going for that first 5k etc.
There is always going to be an element of risk to any change we may wish to make and potentially fear or apprehension too. Especially if putting yourself into an arena you haven’t been in before. However, the reality is that there isn’t really anything that is risk-free in life. We can only aim to calculate the risk and manage it as best as we can or as is necessary.
The only risk I can imagine being associated with me entering this competition is if someone presses the ‘dislike’ button. I ain’t gonna lie, that wouldn’t feel nice. In comparison to the potential for hundreds or more people hearing and engaging with my words, it is a risk worth taking. A risk I didn’t even actually think about until seeing my poem was ‘live,’
So go for it! Or at least. please, seriously consider it.
