I found a stack of my old poetry last night. From something I’d written at 13, to later pieces into my 20s & 30s. Stuff I’d forgotten, and pieces not saved on any devices I currently own. I had set out on a mission to declutter, and found some treasure.

In amoungst it, was this piece. At the time, it was written for someone particular, but I think it is a lived experience that others can most definitely identify with. So having woken up and remembered that today is International Women’s Day, seems fitting to post this.

If you see yourself within these words, receive them as my encouragement to you. A celebration of who you are, an acknowledgment of what you have overcome, and a salute to what you have achieved.
